MISSION STATEMENT:
To provide a proactive approach in methamphetamine identification, education, rehabilitation and eradication in our community.
April 2006
Since it's inception in fall of 2004, COMA has seen and heard more and more about methamphetamine and its effects on human lives in our small rural community. It's devastating to everyone that loves or cares about a Meth addict. Families are left in the wake trying to understand what happened and trying to pick up the pieces, in some cases raising children or grandchildren, other cases trying to find the money to pay for expensive and sometimes unsuccessful rehabilitation.
Methamphetamine addiction is a National Social Economic Problem. Meth addicts come in all ages, income levels, educated or not, race, sex and religion preference. We have to take charge of our individual communities and stop the cycle of production, distribution and addiction.
The thoughts and viewpoints of every individual sitting on the executive committee vary about everything except methamphetamine. We all agree this is a nasty drug, and we want to make a difference in our community by identifying the issues, educating the public, rehabilitating those who want help, and eradicating those who don't.
We cannot rely on law enforcement or government officials alone to solve the "METH Problem." We can all work together to achieve success over METH and its effects on our communities. We need the insight of previous users, their families, and anyone who has creative ideas on how to help us further educate the public. Remember: "you can't afford to use it even once."
Please help us!
If we can be of assistance to help you deal with methamphetamine issues or helping another community start a grass roots campaign like COMA, please contact us, we will be happy to assist!
Sincerely,
Annette Dunckley COMA Chair |
